In urban areas we must protect of what is little left of our forests especially Fairview Forest where it is one of the last remaining forests in its area. It provides an important and healthy habitat for the 245 species (35 that are threatened) trees, plants, insects, birds, mammals and amphibians. It also has three wetlands. These 245 species absolutely depend on thriving in their natural and healthy environment. Fairview Forest acts as a carbon sink absorbing greenhouse gases from the atmosphere. It acts as a water reservoir absorbing the heavy rainfalls and helps to prevent extensive and damaging floods. It also acts as a natural air conditioning system releasing moisture that cools the air around it especially that it sits in the middle of a heat island. Please consider protecting the entire Fairview Forest which is very beneficial for the health of the earth, wildlife and humans. It would be totally irresponsible to let this irreplaceable and precious forest be destroyed because of greed and profit.
